Opener!

Was a great opener..went to gamelands and had a bunch a room to roam! There was some other hunters but we were able to hunt where we wanted and weren't pressured! While driving around saw a lot of people out!



 
It was a picture perfect morning. The only drawback was that we were done hunting in about 30-40 minutes! Dugan was on his game and we had our birds early. We hunted in an either sex zone and saw only hens.
The area we hunted had only a few hunters which was great for an opening day.
Encouraged by Mr A's shooting " he recently went 9 for 9 in North Dakota", I was 2 for 2, a much better start than last year. :D

A very nice day afield!

Nice start to the year, guys. Good job Dugan!

I was out early before the boys' football game. Got two roosters off nice points and got back home just in time.

I took my neighbor out in the afternoon with his son who was home from college. I didn't need to carry a gun which made the walking easy. The dogs worked well and had some nice points. But nobody was able to bag a bird. That didn't matter since it was a nice day and we still saw a good number of birds. The area was more crowded that I thought it would be for the afternoon.

We just had a pheasant dinner and if the Lions can beat the Buckeyes it will have been a perfect day!

Great report though and good job on the birds. You guys make me jealous with how your DNR is approaching upland hunting.

LOL...hey you can't blame us for wanting it all, maybe next year! :)

And you're right, we're very lucky to have people in charge that get it!

I hear ya.

Looks like I might be spending some time over in PA for work so might have to look more into the bird opportunities and bring the dog along with me on a few trips.
 
Snipet- did you get out this year? I know you did a lot of work last year for your PA birds. I'll be out for a few hours on Saturday. If you happen to be out and see me you're welcome to walk along.
