A friend has invited me to hunt his place in OK for several years. I finally took him up on it this year. I was in or near turkeys every day. The 4th morning, I called a mature tom out of the roost and it landed 20 yards from me. Pretty cool, it was back peddling trying to slow down before it landed. My first Rio Grand.
Hogs are a recent arrive in this area of OK. That evening I sat in a tree stand and waited for the hogs, when I thought it was too dark I started to climb down only to have a group of hogs run to within 35 yards of me (while on the ladder). The scope was able to gather enough light to help me make the shot. Poultry and pork in the same day! I don't have a good hog photo as it was dark by the time help arrived. The hog was about 140 pounds, nothing big, but good eats. I hunted hard for a week and could have killed a second turkey but was holding out for a real long beard.
Life is good.
