I made a trip to eastern Oregon last month. They had a lot of flooding last spring and I was really concerned about upland nesting success. It looked like the birds did well and due to an unusually wet spring and summer, the habitat is incredible. Cockle burrs and burdock were 15 feet tall in places and the kotchia (spelling) was literally a wall in places. I’ve never said this before but a few cattle in places would be appreciated. There were many many young birds and old. It made for a great hunt and I can’t wait for the next one.
