No chicken hunting pics but a pic none the less

Decided to take my oldest pointer, "Milo" on, as Setternut would say "a quail inspection" to an area I can run dogs but not hunt. I haven't seen quail in this area for, well, never have. At least until this evening when Milo stuck a covey of about 15 birds. These were young birds and acted like pen raised, had to about step on them to get them to fly.

Milo is my boot licker. He rarely gets out past 100 yards and is an absolute dream to hunt over. He handles so nicely. Of course I didn't train him. He was my free pointer from a kennel going out of business clear over on the other side of Missouri. He was a guide dog on a preserve and spent his time doing that until the kennel owners wife got sick and he had to quit the business.

Nice photo! Great looking dog who you helped when he needed a new home.

He's unlike probably any other pointer. When I till the garden he lays down and watches me. Something about the rototiller just amazes him lol. Unlike the two younger ones, when outside the kennel he plays in the yard and absolutely craves attention all the time. Tomato eating fool too. Carries them around the yard along with box turtles or anything else he can find.

Also should mention that he is a retrieving fool, yes a pointer retrieves. I have my wife walk out to 50 or more yards and throw marks for him like I do with my lab. He is a very good marker and delivers the bumper to hand each and every time.

He may be the only pointer like this.

Any idea what the bloodlines he's from? Always have had shorthairs, but would like to get a pointer someday and he sounds like my type of dog.

Also, I too am seeing quail where I haven't see any before. Been deer hunting SE Kansas and been seeing some nice coveys around. I think we're in for a pretty good year with quail.

So if you can make sense of that your better off than me! LOL!

Glad to hear quail spottings in SE KS. It's been vacant down there in the exteme SE part. Hunted opening day there last year and didn't see one bird.

Beautiful picture of a beautiful dog. It belongs framed and on the wall.

Thank you, it's not to bad a pic for a cell phone. Never really noticed how nice a shot it was until you mentioned it. I may do just that.

My first thought was that it would look really good as an oil painting. If you do Photo Shop you might try it and see what it looks like.

If you send out Christmas cards, it could make a really nice cover for the card.:10sign:
