Decided to take my oldest pointer, "Milo" on, as Setternut would say "a quail inspection" to an area I can run dogs but not hunt. I haven't seen quail in this area for, well, never have. At least until this evening when Milo stuck a covey of about 15 birds. These were young birds and acted like pen raised, had to about step on them to get them to fly.
Milo is my boot licker. He rarely gets out past 100 yards and is an absolute dream to hunt over. He handles so nicely. Of course I didn't train him. He was my free pointer from a kennel going out of business clear over on the other side of Missouri. He was a guide dog on a preserve and spent his time doing that until the kennel owners wife got sick and he had to quit the business.
