Nice hunt yesterday.

Went on a hunt with people from navhda group. 3 Vizslas my buddies 2 vdd and my female weim. 25° and just a slight breeze. Half section of crp with some cattails and pheragmites.

All dogs got multiple points on hens and my dog pointed 2 of the 4 roosters we got. I let a visitor from Wisconsin shoot 1 and he was really excited. Dog was on point halfway between us and I got his attention and said it's yours. He walked over and said he could see color before it flushed so he was super excited. Made a nice 30 yard shot and I let his Viz retrieve it. Nice mature rooster with long tail feathers and serious spurs.

I don't know if it was his first but I know it was his first this trip. I am not a fan of these get together hunts as someone is always talking grab assing so I get to the outside or wherever else no one wants to go. If that is in the slough that is where I will be. My dog was the only 1 steady to flush and I chimed a trainer about his. He said not during hunting season. I guess I am spoiled and hunt good ground where dogs chasing birds are going to bust birds so I won't allow mine to do it. Steady to shot also. Can go on the fall.

I’m envious. The Shady Lady is…well, shady. I can pull the reins with the controller.but I gotta be on it. Now on winged runner it works out but she’s bumped her share of birds.

I did whoa training walking and having someone throw pigeons to reinforce the birds flying you stop. Also random shots that mean whoa. Then the 2 together. Few times going thru this and my dogs are steady.

I will confess my dogs aren't great at backing. That is a outcome from running the 3 together and if 1 finds something the others want in on the action
