New Year Quail - Average Weather Conditions

Years back we made a trip down for the final four days of January. Buddy and myself shot 16 quail on the 31st. January weather can be 20 degrees to 70 degrees. If it rains, the secondary roads are impassible. Don’t try it. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Good luck
Land owners are the best. Makes it more fun if the weather cooperates.

Appreciate it. Looking forward to it. Never chased quail before.

Any chance at prairie chickens that time of the year? I believe I will be in the right areas for them.

Planning a trip around the Neof chances wYear timeframe for NC KS. What could I expect in the way of typical weather that time of the year?
Never any guarantees at that time of year, but your chances of hitting some good weathers are better there than say Iowa.

Their range and numbers have really shrunken the last decade or two. But if you're in their range, they will be in thinner cover and maybe even in the wide open. We used to cruiz in early morning and evening watching the horizon for them. Then get permission to pass shoot them in a tree line of fence row. An old farmer told me once the flock will fly over the same fence post their whole life.

If I was planning I’d say mid to low 40s highs at least half of your trip. But at that time of year you could see some snow that will lock in some lower temps. Late in Jan you’re as likely to see anything 20s to 60s. But it always seems to warm up end of Jan. before Feb. comes in with some more cold.
