Jim the kuiu bird pack need serious consideration, it’s made for large birds, some water storage, simple design. Price point is reasonable compared to some of the other high end packs. My dad and brother run one, both are happy so far.If you want to look cool kiui now has a traditional game vest. I have some of their stuff , their gators and a couple of regular vests.. It’s good stuff . I’d like a pair of their gloves. That stuff is so overpriced it’s somewhat easier to pull the trigger if you catch it on sale. I may just do that if they still have a pair my size come next sale. Their strap vest is supposed to be nice but strap vests really are a pain in the ass if you are just getting in and out of the truck.
I have tried using a water bladder, but it is just too heavy. I have a water bottle I keep in the game pocket, but it is a PIA to get in and out to water the dog.I use a water bladder in the back of mine for the dogs on warm days. When it’s full, plus a couple roosters in the bag, that Filson is definitely heavy. I do like the way it functions however. I have had to sew up the shell pockets, as over time, they have worn through…
Your gear is great, but those floors are remarkable! One of the downsides to strap vests is they take up a lot of room in the backseat or in the house. But the open backs you can pack a lot of shit in them when you loading from the house . Fewer trips to the truck.

I don't know anything about where Final Rise is made, but I'd double check your info on Pyke. The final rise and Pyke are made in America if that’s a concern.
Thanks LC. 108 yr old white oak.Your gear is great, but those floors are remarkable!
I mostly hunt in Nov/Dec. My hunts are about 30-60 mins long, back to the truck, then to the next spot.
I'm open to just about any suggestion here. Not going to discount any version someone posts. Right now the one I am looking at is a Browning version like this.

My buddy just bought a Pyke strap vest & liked it so much he gave me his one year oldMine needs replacing before next season. The one I have now is about 20 years old and has been patched with zippers replaced more than once. I asked for a new one for xmas but my wife was uncomfortable buying it for me, so she told me to buy the one I wanted whenever.
I am looking for one that has orange shoulder patches/back and pockets in front. Not the shell loops. Those wear out too quick. I am 6'2" and 210 pounds.
Price tag is not that big of an issue as it will last for many years.
It depends. Looks like the bird n lite the weight rests on your shoulders. If you don’t mind that, then it should be fine. The up side of Chief upland, final rise, and kuiu (and others) is that they ar backpack style with synch waist belts to put the weight on your waist and not your shoulders. There a noticeable difference in fatigue even for short hunts. At least for me.Not to hijack, but any real negatives on this Browning strap vest for a novice weekend warrior? found a dealer that had a couple left over he was selling for $130.00 I know it’s not the Denali of vest but…..

Just been using a more traditional Game hide vest, but since I’m adding a dog I’m aware I’ll have to add more gear to carry.
Perfect, thanks for the guidance. This adds clarity to the offerings for sure.It depends. Looks like the bird n lite the weight rests on your shoulders.
