New Upland Addiction - "Dove Camp"

After 4 days of trying to figure out how to hunt doves and 6-7 boxes of shells I can safely say that dove hunting is a new favorite of mine and that "Dove Camp" will be an annual event at Pheasant Camp Lodge.

Great practice for shooting roosters, easy to lose birds in tall cover so plenty of retrieve work for the dog and reminded me a heck of a lot like duck hunting which I used to love to do in the early years.

Good for you Chris! I too enjoy dove hunting a great deal. It's a very low-pressure hunt and the fun-to-work ratio favors the fun side a great deal.

Roosters being scarce in NC Kansas, we now go to same spot in September to heat the barrels up on dove. Plus my father in-law who can't walk around a far as he used to can sit on a pond dam and get some shots in. Pretty fun for the dog when they drop in the pond. Hunted a huge sunflower field near KC this year, hit it mid day so birds werent flying, our group pushed it like a pheasant field had quite a few get up just like a quail or pheasant.

Come pheasant season, roosters look like B-52's compared to those grey rockets!
