Hey guys. I am new to the site and appreciate all the information givin out here. In the nine years that I have lived here in Colorado I have spent little time chasing birds out east in fear of the crowds and few birds so I've been chasing chuckars on the gunnison, sitting in the cold on the CO river and traveling home to E. Oregon to chase pheasants. But I can't take it any longer I miss those pheasants to much it's time to head out east. I am curious if anyone would like some elk meat in trade for land access. I live up here in Carbondale and would like to bring some elk meat down if it would help to get my dog and myself onto some good hunting. Thanks.

Hey Treeline, welcome to the forum. One way to look at it is those of us in the Denver area just have a 4 hour headstart on you heading East and we can make a day trip--though it sure makes for a long day. To make it practical, you'll have to make a 2 or 3 day trip. If you're ever going to give Eastern CO a try for pheasants, this is the season. Bird counts are up and most all the corn has been harvested. Tell us about your dog and your hunting style and maybe you can hook up with some fellow forum-ers. I met up with some last year and had a great time.

Hi Pairoflabs and deadframer, Thanks for the reply.

Well my dog is a 7 year old golden retriever. He is a great dog, really good nose, I trained him for hunt trials when he was young but we couldn't handle all the traveling. The main reason I hunt birds anymore is for him, I love watching him work and seeing that he is happy. As far as my hunting style goes I really prefer hunting alone or with just a couple of others. Although it is effective I don't really like the drive and block method. I tend to be there more for my dog.
