Do what I did get one of each breed! LOL

Either choice would be a good one IMO. Shorthairs are easier to find but wirehairs are worth the drive. My wirehair was my first bird dog. I wanted something a little different than normal but wasn't a pain to find. They both have great personalities!!!

I did the same thing and had the same experience! That's why I couldn't help a guy pick between the 2.....I would rather have one of each than 2 of either breed. The wirehair is desperate to please (the shorthair longs to please but I wouldn't say he's desperate). Is that your experience UGLYDOG?


Also, good luck beating the wirehair to a retrieve (at least for the other dogs in MY kennel)!
