Hi all I am a long time hunter but have just joined the forum and moved to Colorado last May, 2012. I am looking for information on suitable locations for upland bird hunting and good locations to work a young german wirehair.

Looking forward to keeping track of how folks are doing and visiting with other hunters.

Welcome, Bernie. You're on the right track just being on this board. You'll soon find that the NE corner of the state is the place to go. Unfortunately, your timing is terrible - you just missed two fantastic years of roosters. This year will not be as good, but don't let that discourage you from getting out there with the pup and having a good at them!

Thanks for the welcome

That would be just the way my luck goes, missed a good couple years and now a less than perfect year - but it will still be a good time getting out ans worknig the dog. :)

Welcome to the forum. Nice pic of your dog in action :coolpics:

There alot of good guys on here. Glad to have you:cheers:

Welcome aboard!!!I would agree that the NE corner of CO seems to be the better area to go to. Looks like you have some good dogs . That will definitely help. Post some of your stories as well this year..

Welcome! I to have a GWP, he is 5 and really turning into a good dog. Good luck hunting this year, maybe i will run into you sometime in the field.

Welcome to CO and the forum. First thing-pick up copies of the DOW early season and late season Walk-in Atlas. There's a lot of good info in there. You can use the walk-in areas as starting points and then knock on doors if you see other good prospects. Your best bets are the two columns of counties just to the west of the Kansas and Nebraska borders, from Nebraska down to just south of I-70.

I'll be around the Burlington, Yuma, and Holyoke areas during the season. If you see a 4 dr silver Dodge 2500 with a matching shell, stop over to say "Hi".
