New springer pup

Hi I'm new to the fourm and picking up my first pup next Saturday. He's a 4 month old springer from doorcreek kennels. My father had springers growing up and I can't wait to get mine and get my boys into bird hunting. I'm looking for some info on some of the stuff I should buy for his training. I'm going to put in the time and effort to have the best dog I can. Any help from you guys on here will be greatly appreciated.

I can't help you on the flushing dog training, but there are plenty of knowledgable folks here that can.
 
Yeah he's from Charlie and Buddy. I live in southern New York. If you have any recommendations for any training around here that would be great.
 
Yep, friends Gary and Cindy Wilson. google Sunrise kennels. If you cant find it, let me know and I will get their contact info. They go south in the winter, but may have a few folks around you can train with. Very good trainers, nice folks. Or maybe you can work something out and send the pup with them for some winter training in TX. Ken
 
Ken thanks for the info. I looked them up and there about 4 hours away. I'm actually picking him up I'm Maryland at the national. Can't wait to check it out and try to soak up as much info as I can.
