When introducing a pup to a bird, clip a wing and toss it for the pup. Let him chase it. Hopefully he picks it up and when he does let him have it to carry around. Don't take it from him. Let him carry it and get a taste for birds. Don't hide it from him in grass. And don't tease him with it like you did. You will end up with a snappy dog that will be very prey possessive. You are creating bad habits by not following a program.
