I was born in S.D. 57 years ago but have lived in North Idaho most of my life. Have been going back to S.D. for the last 8 years for two weeks at a time. But I am now retired and plan to spend the month of Nov. in S.D. this year. I shoot a 20 ga. beretta auto and a 20 ga. benelli auto and hunt with a black lab (pointing) that is 3 1/2 years old. I have a lot of relatives in S.D. but most hunt by myself on public land. I do have a cousin that lives in Huron that I hunt with on occassion during their Pheasant Festival in Nov. I hope everyone has a safe hunting season.
 
I want to hear more.

I am thinking of driving up to SD this year from Albuquerque. Just my lab and I for the week (Wed to Tues) before Thanksgiving. Would love to hear more about your experiences, i.e. the WIAs, the weather, how to keep your dog fresh, etc.

I have been trying to decide between SD and Kansas for a month now. The spring bird number reports keep making me think the extra 5 hrs would be worth it.
