Having lost two elder Weims over the the past two years Pheasant hunting had been slow to say the least, Only getting out for maybe an hour at a time and never consecutive days. We were lucky both Weims lived long happy lives to age 13. This past summer it was time for a puppy. After alot of research and the right timing we found Luna and for the first time picked up a puppy at the airport after her flight across country arriving at 9 weeks of age. I grew up hunting over GSP'S and couldn't wait to start training. Obedience training obviously started immediately and field training started at about 4 months of age. I went to a professional trainer weekly rather than leave the pup, I wanted to be part of the training process. It was only 2 weeks ago this Pup heard a shotgun for the first time and since that time it has been non stop success. She is having a great time and getting better and more confident everyday. What a pup!! After having elder dogs for the last several years I forgot about that endless energy. She's had a great week and will be six months of age next week.

It's a shame man's best friend lives such a short life however we are blessed to be able to spend the time we do with them! I really like your pictures! Luna looks like she is doing just fine!

We all know the heartbreak of losing our K-9 friends and when they are also hunting companions the loss is compounded. The only remedy is a new pup and it looks like you got a heck of a buddy there! That was a good idea to be part of the training, both of you learning together is great.
I see you went to Ringneck Ridge, how did you like it?
Welcome to site!

Thank you all for your kind comments. I really enjoyed the training of getting to where she is now and look forward to more. Ringneck Ridge is a great place, great people. I've been going there for a number of years.
