New Hunter from Texas

not really, i am a native Nebraskan, hunted pheasants there and in Kansas for many years, now living in Texas, primarily hunt Kansas, but would like to catch on, if the situation is right, with several guys needing an extra hunter.

i run pointing dogs and have some time in October and November and even December to make it up that way (SD). if any one can accommodate, let me know. experienced, safe, reliable bird hunter, would only hunt with the same, thanks,

richard

Welcome Richard. Enjoy the site. Lots of good people on here.

Welcome to UPH, you have come to the right place, we have a lot of hunters here from the states you named. I'm sure you get some help................Bob

Welcome to the site. I know you didn't mention January, but if you can get the w/e of the 15th off, there is a group of guys from UPH that hunt KS getting together. We've only determined the date and location (Dodge City) at this point. Finer details will be worked out in the coming months. This will give all of us a chance to meet and get to know each other a bit better, which in turn will make it easier to build hunting groups in the future. Plan to come if you can.

thanks for the offer, the dodge city area can be good, will try to work my schedule ahead, let me know as things develop over the fall. it would be good to meet some folks. i usually hunt the greensburg area and spend some time between hays and wakeeny for the most part.

Welcome to the site. I would love to say come up to Iowa and I'll put you on some pheasants but not sure if I'll be here then  Welcome again.

no problem, appreciate the offer. i really feel bad for the Iowa guys, the pheasant pop. has been decimated by bad weather and the loss of CRP. i used to hunt Iowa alot, about 6-8 years ago and it was very good, but it is in a huge decline right now and to be honest i am not sure the Iowa DNR can get it turned around anytime soon.

i am sure there are some good pockets of hunting left, but boy, you would really need to be a local to have the info to go and harvest some birds. i wish you guys the best and hope things get turned around. again, thanks for the offer....maybe we could hook up in Kansas, still lots of opportunities down that way.

I hear you on the population. I saw some good signs up north this weekend, and luckily, there is some good hunting right around my hometown and with my dad owning the hardware store in town, I know a lot of the farmers who have good crp and will let people hunt it. The more I read about kansas, the more I want to hunt down there. I've actually been job hunting down there and along the SD-Iowa border.

Welcome to the site. We like all people with pointing dogs:thumbsup:
Put some pics in here of the pup.

the rust colored dog is a wirehaired vizsla, an unusual breed. this dog is a seasoned veteran.
the brown, curly haired dog is unusual too, he is a pudelpointer. this dog has a big set of "wheels" and loves to go hard.

Very nice!!!! I got some good advice on here. Upload those pic's to Photo bucket and then post them on the site. Then they just appear on the thread and you do not have to click the link. Awesome photo's once again!!! Man am I slow or what???? They are already in photo bucket! Hit direct link on your pic in photo bucket, then copy, then go the the thread and paste it. you may have to click on the little icon of the postcard with mountains on it first, then hit paste. Give it a shot. If it does not work, then I got nothing!!!!LOL
