New Gun has Looks

If looks mean anything, my new Browning 625 Citori 12 ga. should do just fine in the field. It seems to come up just right too. Look out doves come Sept. 1.

BritChaser, what barrel length 625 do you have? I have one with 28" barrels that looked real good in the store.I didn't think it would matter, but being a "lefty", the RH stock cast just doesn't line up right for me. It's a nice gun, but I'm going to put it back in the box and sell it when hunting season gets closer.

My 2 Citori Classic Lightnings are both fitted with Limbsaver pads and seem to be cast neutral. Oh well.

28" barrels too. But I'm a righty so I hope I shoot well with it.

I bought a gun before last season that turned out not to fit me when fielded, my first such experience and frustrating. It was a beautiful Grade II Winchester 101. I traded it in on the 625.

I have heard some good things about the furniture they're putting on the 625s. Is it an oil finish?

I think it is called a matte finish. My old Citori and the 101 I traded in had a gloss finish which I do not care for and really shows the dings.

GSP, the 625 field guns are oil-finished, which is what drew my attn. to the 625. My 2 Citori Lightnings have that darn glossy finish that doesn't take scratches well. The Browning Silver has an oil finish but the new Maxus Field is glossy. I wish Browning would just stick to oil.

If someone explains how to post a pic I will of the 625.

Yep, I hate those shiny lacquered finishes. HAD one on my Citori. Stripped it off and applied a hand rubbed oil finish and went from "nice looking wood" to "WOW, that's nice wood."

I will try to get a pic up tonight too. Not to high jack BritChaser's thread, maybe a new dedicated "gun porn" thread. :D
