Hi Everyone,

New guy to the forum. I have a 10 month old GSP female and I'm working on training her for bird hunting (first hunting dog, had dogs as a kid but never trained or hunted with them). Used to pheasant hunt when I was younger, and I'm getting back into it now that I have finished school and have settled in one place.

Looking forward to lots of good discussions.

Bill

Welcome fellow GSP man. Hope you chime in on all the good discussions on this forum.!!!!!!!!

Welcome:) What kind of schooling did you finish?

Did my B.S. at University of Nebraska. Moved out west for a few years and did my M.S. in Animal Biology at Cal-Davis. Back in the "good life" now :). Loved being in California for a few years, but I'm glad to be back home.

Thanks Bleu,

Right now I am more of a lurker, just trying to learn. I'm working on basic obedience right now and as soon as I get that down solid and move into hunt training, I'm sure I will have a lot of questions.

Husker I'm going back to school in the same field of study (emphasise on game birds). Glad you enjoyed our beautiful state, Davis doesn't represent us as a whole very well though. Did you do any hunting while here, lots of opportunity for game birds in the golden state. I'm planning on hunting a new bird here this year, the ptarmigan.

QH,

Glad to hear you are going back to school. My wife and I quickly learned that Davis is a little different than most of the area that surrounds it. I used to call it a yuppie Berkley (I'm not sure if that actually applies or not, but it seemed appropriate to me). I didn't get a chance to do any hunting while we were there, although we loved to go driving out in the country. We liked to go north of Davis to Sutter Buttes. They had some good grasslands up around there and I even saw a sign for a hunting club. I'll be interested to hear how the ptarmigan hunting goes.
