The hens are starting to build nests here in Tripp County, SD. They are nesting everywhere, Alfalfa, Winter Wheat, last years wheat stubble. It is looking like one heck of a hatch.

Great news, are you still wet in your area? I'm headed down to the Platte area early next week to do some planting of food plots but my friend says some of the low spots we are going to do are still pretty wet--guess I'll see

The Platte area is quite a bit wetter than the Winner area. We could actually use a rain pretty soon. We don't need it as much as the poor guys in western Kansas down to Texas, though.

Chamberlain is wetter also but I think they are doing pretty well. Not nearly as bad as the James River Valley and east for flooding.

I found a new kind of pheasant habitat today. 50 feet from my barn in a lot where I keep cattle in the winter, without any vegitation at all, is a nest with 11 eggs in it. There is 70 acres of CRP on this quarter so she has options. So much for certain height grasses.
