Filled a turkey tag last night in Nemaha Co. on a walk-in patch. A lone tom was strutting in a pasture. I kept going to avoid spooking him, went around the section and parked from where I could advance behind a hedge row. When I got near where I had seen him, he was gone. I started calling. No gobbles. As I crept along a fence line toward his former position he suddenly came out of a little draw heading my way. I froze and managed to ease myself into the grass and crawl up behind a sapling. No chance to set up the decoys. But I kept calling and he kept coming. BAM.
