ND Pheasant Opener, Saturday

Hi all, well Saturday was our pheasant opener, it was a success, but took longer to limit than what I expected. The winds we had didn't help much at all, 18mph with gusts into the 20's. The temps hit the 70's, but the winds cooled things down. I was surprised that the birds we got and seen were all colored out. Did see a couple of young roosters not quite colored out. They were the exceptions. Dog worked well and our shooting was good overall (couple misses!).

Here's my son Will with his birds and a grouse. He was using his 12ga Fabarm Classis:

My birds, I also got two grouse. I was using my 12b Purdey:

Overall a very good day!

Best!

Nice pic. How does the Fabarm compare to other sxs? It's the only side by side I have ever got to shoot, at a few clay targets once. I thought it was a nice gun.

What a nice hunt! I have had the privilege of hunting in ND twice and enjoyed the land and the people.

Hi, the Fabarm is not a bad gun, somewhat underrated IMO. They are about on par with a SKB 485 or 385. Not a lightweight, but not over heavy either (7lbs) for the gauge. They do have a 4 locking lug system, would be hard to shoot loose. The down side with the Fabarm is there are no after market choke tubes available. You get what you get. The ST has been very reliable, no issues so far. The Classis is more of a round body gun than the Classic Lion. Overall a very good gun.
