Mule deer?

How far west in KS do you have to be before you see mule deer? Any other interesting animals to be on the lookout for in west KS? We saw a badger last year in SD and a few other assorted birds, animals, etc and that adds to the trip, just want to know what to look out for as we head that way.

Thanks

Chuck

Thanks, will be on the lookout. Looking forward to getting out there. One of the guys has never been that far west, not much past Arkansas for that matter, other than our trip to SD. Hope to see some neat stuff as well as a few pheasants.

Saw a dead badger in a WIHA last year by Great Bend, kind of neat, had never seen one before.

Like said above, west of Pratt is a good line to start for muleys. Have seen a lot of does and some real small bucks, but never any monsters yet.

Would like to see a badger up close. We are beginning to have a few here in Arkansas, not very many though. The young man coming with me is finishing his masters in Wildlife Ecology so he and I both will be interested in the opportunities for new wildlife.

if your running dogs, you sure don't ..they can tear a dog up.

We were about an hour west of Great Bend over Thanksgiving and saw mule deer. Also saw a dead badger and a live bobcat. I have seen antelope around the Scott City and Elkhart areas.

Saw 7 muley does standing in CRP just off the highway SE of Liberal bout 30 miles last Friday evening. Nice herd of antelope between Rolla and Elkhart.

4 days of hunting and didn't see a badger--thank goodness--new springer pup likes to investigate everything!

Opening weekend saw a dandy of muley buck on a piece of walk in ground by Stockton. Have yet to see a badger out hunting.
