It is mounted on the head strap, with the field of view narrowed so you can see the birds and it is not so fisheyed.
I have to take my hat off. The camera will bounce around some when you walk which shows up as bouncing around. But you can get some pretty nice video of you shooting at the bird.
If it was chest mounted, I would think that the camera would not be pointed at the birds when shooting the gun. But I have not tried it.
Here are some examples of what a head mount will give you.
I think the Go Pro Hero Silver is all anyone needs. If you want a remote, you can get it down the road for a fair price or on ebay cheaper.
The feature that sold me on it is called the "One button" This allows you to see Gunnar go on point, you hit the on button and the camera turns on and begins recording. This conserves battery life and keeps you from having to edit 4 hours of video. Then when the sequence is over, you just hit the button again. Easy beasy!
It comes with a head strap, that is all I use. I wear it on a ball cap and stocking cap. It also comes with different mounting brackets.
Editing is ok. I am a knob at all this electronic stuff, but i edited the videos you see. I wont be winning any Emmy's or competing with Ron Howard, but I get the job done.
It allows you to cut, fade in fade out, the slow motions was sweet:10sign: and well worth it.
If you get one, I will help you with anything I can.
Cabelas has the silver on sale right now for $250. A couple months ago there were a ton of deals because the new "+" model rolled out. Shop around.
Lots of good things can be said about the Sony action cam and the new garmin one as well. Not sure if you are specific in wanting a go-pro per say, but if you are, disregard.
Thank you . . . both of you. This is very helpful.
Believe it or not, I hunted with a lipstick camera mounted to the bill of my cap as long as 10 to 12 years ago now. It connected to a VHS camcorder that I carried in a fanny pack.
Oh the looks I got, but I really appreciate the video I now have on hand. Especially that of my first dog, Murphy.
I posted a reply to you a couple posts above.......wonder if oyu missed it.
Nate, all the videos that I have posted have been from the go pro silver, mounted on my head.
Now, when you view them on the site, you have to change the quality on youtube. Youtube drops the quality from 1080 to 320.
