More upland hunting

I for one will put in a lot more time pheasant, grouse and duck hunting this fall. I didn't draw any MT or WY big game licenses including Antelope. 1st time that's happened. I thought with the high prices, odds would be even better to draw. Go figure?
Anyway that frees up a lot of time for the birds. And the return of the NR application fees will help with the fuel costs. I guess I can live with it.

Bird Hunting vs. Big Game

Best of luck bird hunting in place of big game gunning.

I tend to spend more of my time upland hunting anyway. It is just plain more fun for me - deer or turkey is just something to do since there is a season open, but it isn't my joy.

Too bad all the magazines forget about bird hunting...

MNMT, SD will need more "management hunters" this year with the high bird numbers. Will you make it to SD?

Chris, Montana opening for pheasants, not the big numbers out there, but I only need 3 a day and I like to hunt and work the dogs. Afternoons will be spent hunting waterfowl and Sharptails. I would love to hunt SD, just not enough time. Thinking about doing a late hunt in ND. To bad Oct isn't about 100 days long.

Try "Gray's Sporting Journal" and the "Upland Journal" magazines.

Thanks for the tip, not that I need any more magazines, but at least they'll have something worth reading...
