MN Public Roosters: Yesterdays Hunt

Had a great hunt yesterday on public ground in NW Minnesota. Drove a half hour from home and within an hour of leaving the pickup me and my Pup had our first ever 3 bird limit. Elsie performed flawlessly, scenting, finding, holding and pointing all three roosters in heavy cattail. I was pretty proud! She seemed disappointed that the hunt was over as quick as it was. She'll get more chances within the next few weeks. But the snow is certainly piling up and its tough walking in some areas. Might have to break out the snowshoes for the next trip.

Great photo . . . as cold as it looks, quick may have been a good thing!

I also forgot about the change. Good to know as I'm headed over to MN this coming week.

Nice picture, yes, them dogs always think there should be more to a hunt. Breed makes no difference they all love to do it. It is in their genes. I have even had a dog give me kisses after the hunt while I was crating him for the trip home. They really love getting out..........Bob

Nice job dc. Going through the ice a couple years ago hasn't slowed you down any.

Those who are afraid of the outdoors are those who never get to enjoy the outdoors.
Certainly not trying to burn up my proverbial nine lives, but at the same time I'm not afraid to work hard in order to have a chance for a good hunt. We all know what it takes to sometimes get a few of these birds.

Very true words and your results are proof of that.

A three-bird limit in December on MN public is an accomplishment!

Hunt to remember there. Nice work.

nice dc- good picture- should get it enlarged- or cumputer background

used to go up to Pipestone and hunt with a fella that had a female Britt-
quite fun in the cold and snow- sometimes when the dogs are doing good and you've shot your limit it's quite fun to continue- quite different hunting and dog handling when you aren't concerned with shooting
