Missing my boy

I lost my yellow boy Zeke last 4th of July at age 14. My wife was going through some photos the other night and came across this one that I hadn't seen in many years.

It's not like I'd forgotten what a physical specimen he was in his prime, but this picture will be a constant reminder. I think he was 3 or 4 when it was taken.

So strong. So determined. So fearless. So tough. So loyal.

A lady at a park once asked me how one goes about getting a dog "buffed" like he was. I had no answer and just told her it was either an act of genetics or of God.

I'll never own the likes of him again -- the complete package that culminates in a wild rooster's worst nightmare -- and that's as it should be. Nobody deserves to get that lucky more than once.

I bet you do miss him. And it's OK to never expect to have as good a friend as he is.:)

I hear ya. I lost my AFC River dog last spring. I thought the same. But then her kids grew up. I too never thought there would be another. I cried like a little school girl who had all her Halloween candy ripped off. For days I laid by her grave bawling. I got back to training her boys. The first time ever I finished 1 / 2 in trials each time they ran. I kept one for my future and cried again as the other left home to another family. I wondered if the one I kept would be as good as mom, can he take out runners like her. He then went to his first all age and did what I never did with her. He finished the 1st 2, 6 series in a row. And took out 2 runners with ease. One 150 yarder, and a 60 yarder. I had a smile and said there she is. He was hosed by a judge and should have placed. So yes you can have another. It's hard, we never forget. But if you let it happen, another will build those great memories:thumbsup:. I now have a grand baby 4 weeks old I will name after her. And I expect the same greatness. Looking forward to it. It took a while for me to get past it, and never really have. But the new kids help me move on. Take care
