Minnesota Slam

ended up rap n up my MN grouse slam saturday on opener thats a spruce ruffed sharptail & pinnated grouse aka prairie chicken been stuck on the sharptail only for like 5-6 years was the hardest to kill for me by far!!! shot at more huns then sharpies b4 saturday... all were take n on 100% public lands in MN ...

just need a few bonus birds like a sandhill crane & hungarian partridge to have shot all upland game birds in MN... going for all 4 grouse in 1 season now...

do you consider sand hill crane an upland bird in MN? :)

Finished up my Slam this afternoon by bagging a couple woodcock. My spaniel didn't seem to like their taste.

very cool... congrats... even though them lil guys are not a grouse... lol

ive killed woodcock but not with my dog so thats my goal i guess.... going for my single season grouse slam now after pheasant opener i gonna head up to spruce/ruffed grouse country been a few years but know the area well...

if u can get a true double on ruffed grouse aka both in air at same time & u drop both then you are a legend... id go buy a lottery ticket if i pulled that feat!!! back to back is much more common...

I agree with you! And I had the opportunity Saturday. The distance they flushed from, and the manner in which the flushed, presented the best opportunity I may ever get for a grouse double. They were two shots that are very make-able for me. But I forgot the most important part of shooting a double... kill the first before looking at the second haha
