Made a trip to Onpoint Outfitters

I took the day off and made a trip out to Onpoint Outfitters for a hunt. I didn't get to do much late season hunting because of other commitments so I was looking forward to the day. There was a lot of snow out there. There hasn't been much snow at home so it was a change for sure. I planned to start out hunting without putting birds out to see how things went. It only took Nittany about 30 seconds before getting his first point in some standing corn. I was able to bag this bird and then moved on. The dogs found more birds in other standing corn and they ended up with 6 finds and I put 4 birds in the bag. The dogs did well and didn't bust any birds which suprised me a little since the birds were running in the corn. As I was walking back to the truck the dogs had one more find and I took some pictures this time. The next few pictures are of the same point as I kept moving closer:

Then I took a little video:

It was a good day.

That's some quick action without putting any birds out! Were they all pheasant or quail? I believe he thinks there may be some reproduction going on. Any updates on this? Nice hunt, thanks for sharing.

We didn't get into any quail. There has been snow on the ground for quite a few months now and that probably pushed them into the woods. A lot of the cover got knocked down pretty good from the snow and with more on the way the quail are going to have a rough go. I'm not sure how the quail numbers have been this year.
