Just got back from 4 days of hunting. 11/16 - 11/19. 10 guys, 4 labs, 45 take home birds, 5 birds brought home for mounting. Lots of corn and water. Hunted CRP next to corn from 10 am till 11:30 had lunch in the field back in the CRP from 12:30 until sunset. Most birds taken the first and last hours of the day. Alot of birds laughing at us from the corn during the afternoon. Cut the corners of some corn fields with some sucess. Farmers making progress on corn so it will only get better. One nice stat this year was we did not lose a bird that was knocked down. The dogs were absolutely awesome. Good luck to all that are heading to SD, it is well worth it. Can't wait until next year.

Yes, land around Salem and Bridgewater. Tough hunting, still alot of corn unharvested. Alot of our areas were very wet. Alot of birds in AM were able to run on the ice deep into the cattails where the water was well over our boots. Hit those areas in the afternoon once the ice has melted. Hope this helps.

I grew up near the Salem /Bridgewater areas....actually graduated from Canistota HS.

Been to SD once this year....first week in November. We hunt some ground about 10 -15 miles south of Salem right on hiway 81. When we were there all the corn was in the fields and many of our good spots were full of water.
We just weren't able to do much good. Didn't even see many birds.
We also hunt out near Plankinton...west of Mitchell. Would like to make a trip back out to SD over New Years. Mom lives in Marion which is Turner county....but just don't think that it is going to work out to make another trip. Glad you had some success!
