It seemed like the birds were really young, barely adult this year. See the pic.
Although the Kid did get one that had some pretty good spurs.
These kind of remnded me of Pen raised birds.

The vast majority of our birds were less than 2 yrs old. Some spurs were just nubs. Nice pics.

Thanks. When the nearest bird in the pic when up, some yelled, "That bird ain't got no Ass!" It'll still eat good!

Went I sent that pic back home, the Girls were mad. "Non-family" doesn't get to cuddle with Sam(dog)!
That made me laugh!

Reminds me of that old TV show I loved, "Hunting with Hank." The host would end every episode with a scene similar to yours, and then admonish viewers, "And remember, never spoil your bird dog!"

I spoiled a bunch...Loved every one of them every day of their too-brief lives.

It isn't spoiling, it is a reward for a job well done!
He is 12 Years old just like Yoda. Hobbles around until there is work to be done. He just lays around until I pick up the training collar with the Dog bell clanging. Then just like Yoda, he starts flying around
