Just gotta brag for a second. So I started "couch to 5k" four weeks ago, and also have been biking for the past tree weeks. Crazy Daisy and I are jogging about six miles a week, and I've been running Loony Junie off the bike about twice that distance per week.

It feels really good. I don't want to run a 5k, ever, but just didn't want to enter hunting season this year as a fat slug (like usual). And daisy's jiggling butt fat was kinda embarassing last September.

Anyway, it's working! I can hardly wait to hit the wide open prairies in a couple weeks after some "tasty" PC. Maybe I'll just bring the camera and my running shoes and see how many miles we can cover vs last year.

Considering the bird reports, covering more miles will probably be necessary this season.

Fantastic! Nothing better than lightening one's load of unnecessaries (like my belly fat) so that it is that much easier to bear gun, ammo, dog water, and other accoutrement of the field. You're an inspiration. Keep up the good work and don't run those doggies too hard. :D

Toad, GOOD for you!
It's hard, It hurts.
LOTS of work:( BUT you know? BET:cheers: you'll get some birds!

Toad, what is your secret? Wife promise you a nice O/U????? Seriously, congrats!!! That is awesome!!! You may not need to cover much ground as they will be in the only available cover to support them , which isn't much!!!:thumbsup:

way to go Toad, only problem is that you may loose so much weight that you will have to buy smaller hunting pants as your old ones might be to big and want to fall off OR you could always put another hole in the belt :)
Keep it up :10sign:

Thanks guys! This is the first time in my life I have ever exercised while not playing a competitive sport, so it's kind of a new experience for me. But so far so good...

CoPH, it would be nice if I could just fit into my old brush pants. I won't be looking to punch any holes in my belt too soon. I still have 15# just to get back to my "before second kid" weight...

Bleu, I wish I had a double gun on the line. I would be running right now! No... The only side benefit at home is that my wife thinks my calves are sexy!

The real benefit has been for the dogs. They appreciate the regular routine, although clearly they don't know whose turn it is, since they both want to go every day... Just a couple more weeks, girls...:D

Thats awesome!!

Since I have been out of the military I gained 45lbs. Kept the same eating habits and quit exercising. Now I have myself in a pickle. I need to start exercising again and lose some of this xtra chow I have stored up!

I am trying to follow your lead and get the boys pup and me in some sort of shape. Got up this am early to beat the heat. The pup decided to meet the rear of an old pole cat right off the deck. Woke wife up and had her find the peroxide recipe on here. Me and pup now smell better.

Turtle, that's awful!

Update: I have both dogs running off the bike now (separately). Daisy is more my pace. Junie is the fastest little hamster-brit I've ever seen! That dog has more gears than my bike, no joke.

At some point I would like to train them both to run/pull the bike together. Maybe by next summer.

It won't be long before I can swap the bike for a shotgun and let my little monsters REALLY eat up some ground.
