All,
Debating on whether I head to Spirit Lake next week or cut it a little closer and hunt just west of the I-35 corridor between Belmond and Forest City.
I have had boots on the ground in both areas over the years and have had decent hunting in both regions.
Would prefer to head further out, but my time is limited with a busy work and family schedule. Not only that, my setter is old; about all he can handle is a day's hunting-5 hours is a long way to drive to hunt just a day.
I know there is a Super 8 in Forest City that is dog friendly and reasonable. There was a place on US 18 I think, R Motel, that used to cater to hunters, but I was saddened to hear it was closed and burned down last year.
Anything will work, I guess I prefer those little mom and pop places you find from time to time over the big chains. Any place that is reasonable, dog friendly, and won't have me infested with bed bugs is worthy of mention.
Thanks,
Joe
