Listing a Location in your Profile

I have noticed that so many members on this site fail to list their location in their profile. To me, it's nice to see where people are from. It also helps to know where they are from sometimes when responding to a question in one of their posts. I suppose that some don't list a location due to privacy issues. But I can't see what would be hurt if they at least indicated the state they are from if they don't want to list a specific city. I see some members have indicated the area of the state, i.e. NE South Dakota. Just my personal observation but I would like to encourage those that don't have a location listed in their profile to consider changing it. Thanks.

Absolutely. It really helps for context when someone is discussing habit and techniques that may be alien to the reader.

Crockett, one of your threads about woodcock in the alders sent me searching through a number of your older posts to try and figure out where the heck you were. Wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking Kansas' thick alder forests and massive flocks of woodcocks. ;)

To Edit your location or add a location just click on the UserCP in the header above the Forums. Then click "Edit Your Details" on the left side. Then scroll down to the Addition Information section and you can add your location. You can also add other information like birth date, details about yourself, hobbies and occupation.

Just checking to see if I did it correctly. Coming out to SD on 11-7 for 5 days, then hopefully the week after Thanksgiving.

Agree completely. Depending on the topic, the posters location can make a huge difference in the answer / comments necessary.

Quick How-To

To enter a home base or home hunting grounds location to display on your profile and posts here:

  1. Click User CP - (Found on left side of page)
  2. Select Edit Your Details - (Second item in column on left side of page)
  3. Location - (Enter text toward bottom of page)

This way, when you post

Stepped out back and seen a bear
, we're not wondering whether you're talking about Northern Yukon or Southern Missouri. ;)
