Lifes not fair

I was paid $4-$6 an hour for bean walking and rock picking. I learned to hate both of them. If it rained I picked nightcrawlers for the local baitshop at night, it wasn't hard to make $10-15/hr (and that was selling wholesale, 2.5 cents per crawler, cash). However, I few hours of that was enough each night. The first year I trapped muskrats, I got $8/rat. No wonder I didn't want to hang around the farm. :D:D:D

Old gone uncle Bert earned money in Republic County in high school by watering cattle that were shipped by rail. He got up in the middle of the night to meet the train and got several cents per head. A teacher chastised him in class one day for sleepiness. He replied, "I got up before you went to bed." His work ethic paid off. He went on to become a successful dairyman and his Lowell-Paul dairy still ships products.
