lewellyn question

any dog can run BDC but with all the posts on you looking for a dog i would stay away from trials until after youve had a dog for awhile if its your first then you need to learn about the dog and not just run in and start trialing

I have no intention of running. I was just curious why a IPDBA dog would not be allowed to compete if they are more than capable.

You are asking a political question. Once upon a time llewellins used to win everything. Some people and their friends got jealous. So they cooked up a reason to ban the basic source of llewellins from competing thus solving the problem.

He said it all, it is political, groups splinter, along lines of bench showing, breeders, who want the flowing coat, with indifferece to field quality, others who want to create a name differential, as an advantage to sell pups who are different from their neighbors, even hair coat! Look at the Brittany, a breed mucked over as much as anybody. There are seperate registries, The AKC does not allow black in the breed, the french, (oringinal), does. There has been a movement to disqualify tan, recently. What a mess! Heck we have a million sub categories of Lab registries, some who point, some who don't, some look like a prime steer, some who look like a greyhound, hair coat some of which do not subscribe to the breed standard, like "White", "Charcoal". With out serious investigation into what you bought, and it's tendencies, it's a crap shoot, regardless of the breed or the strain.
