I had the dogs out one more time before shutting them down for a couple of months. It won't be long before the animals will be nesting and I don't want to disturb them.

Blitz is in there:

I heard some roosters crowing in the distance but the hen was the only bird I saw. She held tight in the grass and I had to kick around for a bit until she flushed. No signs from the quail. I think the winter ice storms did them in.

The dogs got a good bath and will now stay out of the fields and woods. They won't like it but that's the way it goes.

Nice pictures! It looks like your cover bounced back nice. I might run Dugan a couple more times and try to get pictures of those birds in NJ. It's almost impossible to locate those birds without him.

When do you get your pheasant and quail chicks?

Hope you and Dugan can get some good pictures if you make it to NJ.

I should soon get the letter for the pheasant chick pick up date. I usually get them at the end of April or beginning of May. I get the quail when they are around 8 weeks old and that happens around the first week of July.

I cleaned out the brooder house today and the dust and dirt always does a number on me. I still need to finish things up and get it ready for the chicks.

I caught a huge trout at the club today. I'll have to get a picture posted.
