Last hunt for a while

I took the dogs to a preserve today to do a quail hunt which would be the last hunt for a while. I had 10 quail spread out in different fields and it was a great time. The dogs had a lot of points (some because I missed some of the birds) over the 3 hours we hunted. There was a quail hunt at the preserve yesterday and they must have left some birds in the field. I'm not sure how many birds the dogs found be we came home with 11 quail and one rooster. The quail flew great and were like little rockets with the breeze blowing. We found birds in grass fields, sorghum and wood lots. I ended up going through 30 shells for the day. Some of those quail had me all twisted up when shooting and I wasn't in the best shooting position. Other times the quail flew behind some trees and I couldn't connect. Other times I just missed. It was a great day and I enjoyed having the grounds to myself and hunting at my own pace. Tonight I'll be grilling some quail and venison on the grill!

Not the best picture but Nittany is retrieving a quail in the woods.

Those shooting excuses sounds like someone else I know " Mr. A " !:D
Hey...you've spoiled us, I was expecting at least a half dozen pictures.

Sounds like a really good day.

We're heading out tomorrow for some pheasant hunting, it's going to be tough but Dugan is raring to go. So we'll hit some swamps.

We are planning a chucker hunt for Saturday. Should be fun. Alright Fldbred, those excuses were nothing like mine. I have a whole set of my own:)

That Slammer... he's like an ole cagey rooster, hard to flush out at times! ;)
