Lab tracks bird.

I was hunting around Lucas Ks last weekend with my yellow lab and my buddy. We were walking some weedy wheat stubble and a bird got up and i shot it once and it went down it took my dog like 15 seconds to get to it beaucse he was working the other side of me well by the time he got to the bird it he started trracking it and we just let him track it and it ran right of the the side of the field. Just took off had to call the dog off becuase it was no hunting across the road. Has anyone ever seen this happen before thought it was a pretty freak thing to happen.

He could of been tracking a different bird altogether. My buddy shot a bird and his lab went in to retrieve and another rooster flushed, of course she chased after it thinking it was wounded. We knew the shot bird was hit in the wing and the flushed bird flew just fine. We continued to look for the downed bird and found it 15 feet from where it landed. we both thought it was weird that the rooster that flushed, flushed from the same spot the hit bird went down.
