I see Orofino etc mentioned. Been in Kamiah area for 3+ years.

Are there any other Bird Dog hunters / trainers around here???

I went up to Gennesse areas 2024 every week for pheasant last year. Didn't meet or see any real dedicated Bird dog hunters at all

I use to hunt all around Moscow area back in the 80s with college buddies... Different times

I have hunted around Kamiah in the past but have not made the trip in a couple of years after drought took a toll on the bird #s
Got into pheasants, quail and Huns on some private ranches
Should make a few calls to my contacts for reports on bird #’s

Citori 16 , where are you located? State etc?

There are plenty of birds, Ive got tons of quail and some pheasant crossing my property. Thing I dont like about Kamiahand N central area is lack of public hunting land , either fish and game, BLM, or etc. Its all private property farmers or Tribal Indian land.

Wish I knew some of the farmers up toward Grangeville or met some other bird hunters that know locals. I havent even seen any other bird dog/ bird hunters like there are in like SW Idaho. I need to find a training area for planting/ shooting training birds also, maybe a farmers land. There Is no NAVHDA group around here either

I am in Blackfoot. Id. SE corner of Idaho
As for access get OnX and knock on some doors. I found the farmers around kamiah to be friendly and after I had permission on the 1st place they greased the skids on contacts of other farmers
Some good looking ground around Cottonwood and Greencreek but never hunted around there. Heard reports of good chukar hunting above Lewiston
If I head up that was in the future I will give you a shout. Lots of good looking habitat on the reservation but they don’t sell permits last time I asked

I know where Blackfoot is. I just drove though eastern Idaho to pick up my new DK pup in Utah few months ago. There's several DK dog people in Eastern Idaho too.....

Thinking about moving that way again( UGH! moving is a ordeal) . SW Idaho Caldwell area had just gotten insane with too many people so I got a deal on a property in Kamiah N. central Idaho.

Yeah, I need to just go knock on farmers doors
