Just got Back from Kansas

Hi All,

I am new to this forum. I wish I found it before we went to Kansas. Started in Clay Center and headed west to Hill City. Didn't see many pheasants, we did see a fair number of quail and praire chickens.

Great habitat and I am sure great hunting earlier in the season but, the public stuff had been shot out pretty good from what we could tell. All of us had hunted the Dakota's before and were amazed by the amount of grass that KS had. Wow, I bet during a good nesting season the bird numbers can crazy good.
 
Yep, Kansas could be just like SD if the state would back it a little more, but they won't. I have heard the people in charge do not want to spend the money on it. Which to me doesn't make sense--as everyone knows how much hunting can effect the economy of the state. But it still is one of the better states for pheasant hunting.
