June hatch???

Looks like the pheasants are pulling off a successful early hatch this year.
There are a lot of grasslands missing though.

I predict the Sharptails are doing well.
Mostly open Winter, gradual Spring warm up, without late Winter blasts.
Sharptails are more of a native grassland birds, they do well in range and cattle country, foothills, badlands and breaks.
Sharptails will miss the CRP for sure, not nearly as much as the pheasants will.

I'm checking out the Sharptails in early Sept, I'll let you know.

Thanks for the info please keep me posted. I am hoping to be there in Sept if I can and hoping the birds will be there as well.

mmmm, not to mention an area, but what type Sharpie country you thinking?

I stay in the east around Glendive. I look for areas around cut crops and open prairie. But mostly I am limited to what public land I can get on. Last season there were more hunters and less land and I hope that's not a trend. I have tried for many years to get some private spots but I have not had any luck. I live to far away so it is difficult.
