Ithaca 37 Turkeyslayer safey failure

Just picked it up from my ffl today after buying on gunbroker. Its a year 2000 model. I always text the safety out when I buy a gun and never had a failure til now. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. There appears to be a lot of slop or play in the safety front to back, not just sliding in and out. Any gunsmiths or 37 enthusiasts care to chime in?

I have switched the safety on my 37 to left hand. There is a small ball bearing that I imagine has been lost on yours.
