Is it too early to start planning next year's trips?! I'm missing Kansas a lot already. Sure hope you guys get a ton of ran, y'all need just as bad as we do in Texas! I missed hunting around the DC area, but we did ok in Wakeeney. I'm thinking about trying some new areas this coming season depending on the weather. It's always nice to add to the arsenal. Can't wait until next year and let's pray for rain!
 
too early to make any concrete plans just yet, wait until wheat crop emerges and harvest gets started before you pick your spot.......as weather can vary greatly during nesting season.
 
"Wait until wheat crop emerges"? If it isn't emerged it ain't gonna amount to much. The wheat looks really good all over most of western Kansas. It will take spring rains to make a good crop but its well on its way.
 
That's great to hear! Has KS been getting the rain it's been needing? Are the crops and crp field looking better? I try to keep up with the the rain totals they get but nothing like input from the residents!
 
It was almost 70 degrees today in Manhattan.:D There's a lot of fishing that needs to be done before next hunting season.:D

That being said, the dates of my big 2012 trips have been on the calendar since December 2011.

Looks like I'll actually be making a trip out West in NOVEMBER next year!!!:thumbsup: This will be the first time in probably 15 years that I have gone to western KS so early in the season. Uneducated birds??? Well, that should be a real treat!:D

Eastern KS is well above average for moisture so far in 2012, and nobody is complaining.
 
Never to early to start planning hunting trips! I'm hoping to either go to ND or Montana this fall. Never been on a hunting trip like that so I hope that I get to go.
 
I missed KS this year, mostly due to $ but now have my ducks in a row! No more house payment, I am stuffing $10s, 20s and 50s away, I am planning on north Michigan for Grouse in Sept., Phez in SD in Oct. then KS in November and maybe December too! will burn up lots of money to do it but I have only 1 life and plan to live it!

'12 Planning

Already have my dates booked and requested off from work. Even have a campsite picked out for the early November trip.

I spent my 20's and early 30's as a hunting vagabond! Good for you. Most people thought me a wasterel but I wouldn't change a thing. Go while you can enjoy it. Repent in leisure.
