I-29 closure?

When I came up to SD in November, I saw signs about a scheduled I-29 closure northbound north of Council Bluffs.

I’m considering a last minute trip next weekend coming from Vicksburg, MS.

Is I-29 currently closed anywhere between Missouri and Sioux Falls?

Yes it is closed for a couple mile stretch going through around Council Bluffs. Depending on where you're coming from it can be avoided though. If coming from Missouri you will want to take the south expressway exit and go through CB and then continue on 29 north out of town. Probably a 15 minute detour is all. It is closed from basically the casinos on around. Another option would be to continue through Omaha and loop around on 880, but that is more like a 30 minute detour. It closed the week 12/15 and is expected to be closed for 1-2 years.
