Hunting Preserves

I'm looking for a recommendation for a hunting preserve to hunt March 10th & 11. There are three in our party with two labs. One of our party is coming from San Francisco and two from LA so would prefer a preserve between the two locations.

I haven't been on a preserve in over 20 years, and have never been to any of the ones in the area you want to go, so I can't help you with any personal experience. Here is a list from CADFG of the licensed game bird clubs in California. Try giving some of them a call in the area you want to hunt and see if they offer what you are looking for. Thanks very much for your reply. I will contact some of the clubs. I have never hunted a preserve before, but want to take my son and nephew for a hunt when I'm in CA.

We went to Ace High Adventure and hunted two days on pheasants and quail. The birds were good flyers and their was good cover. I would recommend this club.

Pheasant clubs are great settings to start young upland bird hunters. My two boys -- 5 and 7 -- already have the hunting bug just from accompanying me at my local hunting preserve of choice -- Camanche Hills in Ione, which is super kid and family friendly.

These days you also see more women and girls hunting at the preserves -- another encouraging development.
