How fast conditions change.

I certainly could have, on a label I just googled, (similar hericide) for grain sorghum 5-15" high...use drops if over 8". This label said 2 thirds of a pint/acre, I thought mine said 1 pint...I used 1 pint and I am not equipped with drops, so some crop damage would not be a surprise, I didn't have much for options.
I have a food plot on a different farm, waaay fewer pheasants there, I had a great stand of corn and sorghum from the inital planting, the corn must have been close to 30" high, the label I just saw said, for corn under 8" tall....we'll see what happens. Very little corn to worry about in the food plots in the crp.
Any idea why there are far fewer pheasants at your one farm vs. the other? I assume just not as many acres of habitat?

Exactly. The farm with all the birds is 154 acres of great habitat and 6 acres of food plots. We have 2 other farms with creeks that have filter strips, those amount to around 5 acres each, if you flushed 20 birds out of one of those, it would be a lot. Between 10 and 20 would be what you might expect. The crp farm, if you didn't limit quick and made a good pass thru it, seeing 100 would be common. They are wild and 90% are likely ahead and out of range....sometimes 100 yards or more out of range. Your's will get there with a few mild winters & warm springs.

It would be a sight to see the entirety of each of your farms in CRP!
