How far?

From my driveway to our farm in 200 miles on the button... We do have a house there that we use often and make weekends out of it but I bet I've made that trip there and back the same day 10 times this year already. The 400 miles round trip is worth it in my eyes, I get to hunt a day where otherwise I wouldn't, sleep in my own bed and be with my family at night. Not to mention that when I'm there it's like heaven to me and the 200 miles there and back is all most like therapy!

12 hours from Houston to Plainville driving hard and usually make 2 trips within 2 weeks (opening weekend and thxgiving). (I always stay a couple of days . Drove to Pampa one time to hunt quail and I think that is an even longer trip from here.

We normally leave Ohio around 630pm to arrive in SD by noon hunt till we get our limit and then get a good much needed nights sleep. Same thing on the way home, hunt till we get our limit and hit the road for the 17 hours back. This year we did not hunt the day we arrived man was that nice. I am not telling you we dont get a cat nap or too on the ride but trust me you dont feel like it.

I usually drive 3 to 3.5 hours to get to my spots. Ironically the few birds that I have got this year have been 10 minutes down the road from the house. Last year I took my wife with me for the first time. The end of December, we drove 3 hours to the first spot. It was -4 degrees outside. We were walking through some thin cattails when both of us fell through the ice up to our chest level. Luckily we were able to get out no problem and make it back to the truck. We stripped out of everything but our long underwear and had a long 3 hour drive back to the house. Needless to say the wife won't ever go hunting with me again probably. I now carry an extra set of clothes and boots with me whenever I go out though!

Typically in-state, anywhere from 30-minutes to 3-hours one-way (and for damn few birds). Next year after my pup has a season behind him, we hope to return to eastern MT or the Dakotas.
