Help me pick a Citori

I know, I need to see what fits best. I have an older Hunter model that fits awesome, love it. But its heavy. I want a Feather. Now, is that a Lightning, a 725? I see theres an 825 thats just over 7 lbs. i read that the 725 has a low receiver. I do t know what that means I guess. I like higher ribbed guns like Franchi or Benelli, and my old Hunter seems the same. What say you?

To clarify, I LOVE that Hunter, just not the weight. I want that same thing in a 7lb or less 12 gauge. I think it’s gonna be a challenge to find all the offerings I listed locally to try out so I wanna hear opinions.

I have one of THESE in 16 gauge. It's a great shotgun! The one in the link is supposed to weigh 6 lbs 2 ounces and can be found a lot cheaper if you look around on GunBroker or Guns International.
Those that say you can't shoot them well or can't hit anything with them have more than likely never owned or shot one. My 16 weighs 5lbs 12 ounces and I shoot it pretty well but when I miss it's not the guns fault. The only complaint that I have about my Superlight Feather is the depth of the receiver but that's on all Brownings because they use an under lug system.

Sorry, I misspoke, mine is not a 725, it's a lot older than that!

I've had more Browning shotguns in my safe than any other brand. The 725 field doesn't have the same sight plane as the Cynery or the Citori Lightning. If you like a somewhat raised rib, the Cynery will fit the bill, a 725 will not. Cabelas sells a 525 Citori exclusive (which is really the same 525 that Browning discontinued a few years ago but is brought back occasionally as a shot show special) that has a nice partially raised rib. In fact, the 525 is my favorite citori design. Cabelas sells it in a 20 and a 12.

Thanks for that. I kept reading “low profile receiver” and i kept imagining what that meant. Does Cabelas do that in a feather that you know?

No, the 525 that Cabelas carries is a standard weight receiver. IMO, the 725 fits very similarly to a Beretta Silver Pigeon if you have ever shouldered one of those.

I have. Its my understanding guys either like Browning or Beretta o/u’s, not both.
Im just on the hunt for a really light gun. Recoil doesnt bother me. The only other gun Id consider is an Ultralight. Im set on 12 gauge, mostly because the amount of pheasant and bismuth loads I have. The Franchi Instinct SL doesnt shoulder too bad-fits kinda in between the Browning and Beretta.

I've heard in said you either shoot a Browning well or a Beretta well buy not both!
I don't shoot Beretta's well, same as the old Winchester 101's. They seem to "straight" for me, the rib appears to be going up! I think they probably have less drop at comb and heel than Brownings do.

If you are interested in a Beretta 687 Ultralight Deluxe, I have one I would sell. It has an English stock, choke tubes and is in very nice condition. PM me if you are interested.

The reason I ask is one gun I really enjoy is the Franchi affinity select. It is a Scheels special with really nice wood, tasteful game birds on both sides, and is fairly light for a 12 gauge...right around the 6.5 lb mark and has a raised rib which you said you liked. A gun similar to this would be a Benelli Montefeltro silver featherweight. Also very nice wood, raised rib, gold bird and dog inlays, with extended choke tubes. This gun I believe is even a bit lighter than the Franchi. The Franchi has a 28" barrel and the Montefeltro has a 26" barrel. The Montefeltro is basically a fancy Benelli Ultralight. My deer hunting rifles are all black, but everyone of my shotguns have nice wood and game scenes. It's just something I prefer. These are both semi-auto. I don't know if that is something you would be interested in or not.

That's my Franchi Upland Select 26" 20 gauge pictured above. Sweet, sweet upland shotgun. Like it so much I also bought the synthetic LH model.

But back to the question at hand. I have a 725 Feather 26" in 12 gauge, it's my go-to pheasant shotgun. it's lightweight, shoots great, and one of those shotguns that fits me great right out of the box. If my wife hadn't bought me a Weatherby Orion in 20 gauge, I would have a 725 Feather in 20 gauge too. May get one yet...
