Hello Hunters

Hi everybody. Mark here from Lawrence, Kansas. I hunt mostly in Kansas, pheasant and quail starting in November out in the northwest and north central areas, often ending the season with a reserve hunt in March with Kansas Creek Gamebirds. I hunt with one Brittany, my house pet, Gus, whom I got last year from National Brittany Rescue and Adoption Network (NBRAN). Before Gus I had Sport, a Brittany from Colorado where I used to live. I usually start the pheasant season in October in Nebraska or the Dakotas. I have an invitation to hunt the North Dakota opener this year (2008) with the fine Ohio man who fostered Gus for NBRAN. When I lived in CO I hunted grouse in the mountains and the NV chukar opener out of Elko, but Elko is now a two day drive away. I miss hunting that weekend with my old Kansas pal from '68. I also hunt spring and fall turkey and dove hunt the September 1 opener in Kansas.

For me, hunting is a true connection with nature. It takes me far from the stresses of everyday life to a place filled with natural beauty, adventure, physical and mental challenges, camaraderie, and delicious food. I also enjoy the bourbon in the field after the guns are put away at the end of the day.
