Hey fellas! I found your site this morning while looking for information on pheasant hunting and thought i might introduce myself and ask a few questions. I am a veterinarian from Clemson, SC and have a very energetic 3 year-old Boykin spaniel that LOVES to hunt! She's very good at flushing and retrieving the pen-raised and the few wild quail we have around here and I would really like to try her out with pheasant this fall/winter. I have no idea where the best places to go are and I'm not really excited about spending a fortune at a four star lodge. If any of ya'll could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated! Or if the mods feel this post needs to be moved that's fine too. Thanks guys!

Welcome to UPH, I can tell you this Washington is not the place to plan a pheasant hunt. The midwest hunters will give you some pointers on their states, I'm sure. They do have some very fine hunting in those states...............Bob

welcome to uph.:) I am sure you will be hearing from the gents from south dakota and kansas. uguide i am sure can help you out.:)

Welcome, boykin eh that's not very common but I love me a good flushing spaniel. Glad to have you here, I'm sure you will get the info your looking for.

Yeah, I guess you really don't see too many Boykins outside of Carolina! I shipped one to Hawaii back in May, and the folks at the quarantine station had never seen or heard of one before. But they're more common here as the breed was developed just a couple hours from here back in the early 1920s. I do love a good spaniel too, but my Brittany just won't hunt!

That's because she ain't a spaniel. Spaniels are born with tails, love water, and flush not point game. Uh-oh I'm gonna get myself in trouble with some of the guys here.

:welcome: to the site

Welcome to the site. Don't forget about Iowa as a place to find pheasants, especially North Western Iowa.
